Dr. Tara Valentine
Dr. Tara Valentine is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian with a lifelong love for animals and a strong commitment to her community. She began her academic journey at Florida Southern College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1997. With a clear goal of entering the veterinary profession, she continued her studies at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2001 with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Her education laid a strong foundation for the high level of care and attention she provides to her patients today.
In 2004, Dr. Valentine joined the team at Animal and Bird Hospital, where her passion for veterinary medicine and client relationships quickly made her a valued member of the staff. Over the years, she continued to grow both professionally and personally within the practice. In 2021, she achieved a significant milestone in her career by purchasing the clinic, a move that reflected her dedication to the hospital’s long-standing reputation for quality care and compassionate service.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Valentine is a devoted wife and mother. She married her college sweetheart, Matt, in 2000, and together they have built a warm and loving family. Their three children—Josh, Eli, and Emily—are an integral part of their lives. Josh has even joined the Animal and Bird Hospital team as a receptionist, making it a true family affair. At home, the Valentine household is bustling with activity, thanks to their many beloved pets. The family shares their home with three cats—Oliver, Penny, and Bernadette—a spirited Jack Russell named Joey, and two adorable guinea pigs.
Dr. Valentine is also deeply involved in her church community at St. Paul United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoys relaxing in the Florida sunshine by golfing and paddle boarding—two hobbies that allow her to unwind and stay active outdoors. Her compassionate nature, strong leadership, and genuine love for animals continue to guide her work every day at the Animal and Bird Hospital.
